How Mirrors Work
When looking into a flat mirror you see yourself and everything around you. But once you focus on one item "your eyes are receiving light waves diverging from that point." (1) When your eyes recieve these light waves what you seem can be decieving. It will look as if the object in the room is in/behind the mirror but in reality that is not possible bacause light wave cannot pass through the mirror. This would be called a "virtual image." (1) The distance from the object and the mirror is always the same as the distance of the virtual object inside the mirror from the mirror.
